As we approach the conclusion of 2024, it is important to reflect on the events of September 26, 2024, when the Waycross-Ware County community faced the catastrophic impact of Hurricane Helene. This hurricane resulted in significant devastation within our community. In the aftermath, residents united as a cohesive team, providing support to their families, neighbors, and friends until emergency assistance could arrive. The Ware County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), along with various public safety personnel and additional resources, dedicated several weeks to restoring our community to its former state. As we look forward to 2025, it is imperative for everyone to prepare for potential disasters, including severe weather, chemical spills, or other emergencies. Those interested in volunteering with the Ware County CERT are encouraged to reach out to Perry Blackburn at [email protected] or contact the Ware County Emergency Management Agency at 912.287.4394. Wishing you a safe and blessed 2025.
