Right in the heart of downtown Chicago, the St. Patrick’s Day bash kicks off with the Plumbers Local 130 UA’s tradition of dyeing the Chicago River green with their top-secret, eco-friendly formula. The river dye is followed by the downtown St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Since its inaugural march back in 1959, the Shannon Rovers Irish Pipe Band has been leading the procession, followed by troops of Irish step dancers, marching bands, vibrant floats and hundreds of Irish flags.
