Katie, Patient Care Tech, Medical Telemetry/Stroke Care Unit (R2) - Maine Medical Center (MMC)

Katie started as a Certified Nursing Assistant at MMC four years ago. Two years ago she was promoted to Patient Care Tech – congrats Katie!

“My new role has opened opportunities for me by involving me more closely in the care of my patients,” Katie said. “I have more responsibility in this role and work in a tighter partnership alongside the RNs on my team to more effectively care for our patients by performing tasks such as straight catheterizations, removing IV lines when patients are ready for discharge, and more.”

“On R2 we all take on any and all tasks we can accomplish within our role, and we communicate well to make sure all patient needs are attended to. When one of us feels that we are falling behind, we always have a co-worker ready to jump in and help, no questions asked,” Katie said.

“I have worked here for four years and don’t ever see myself working anywhere other than MaineHealth.” Thank you for all you do to provide compassionate care to your patients, Katie!
