Hawkeye Community College - Respiratory Care Program

Last one and I will be caught up! Here are my students at the Junior Achievement Career Day back in late September. We started a new strategy of having our little baby simulator at our table! I know everyone loves the pig lungs, but there were too many participants to monitor! The real life infant and newer real life intubation adult was pretty popular. Hopefully you noticed and love the new pop-up banner!

I want to give a shout out to the Class of 2024 for their 100% CRT pass rate. It has been a while… They are one step away from getting that huge shout out I keep pushing each class to get. I hope that motivates past and future graduates to keep working on the goals they set as students.
And remember to keep moving the profession forward by being a member of the AARC.

There is still time left to register for the 45th Annual Respiratory Care Seminar in Coralville on October 16th and/or 17th! They have a great speaker lineup and always have great food!!! The conference is also very conveniently located right by the Coral Ridge Mall…. Just saying…

Such a bittersweet moment… another class will be leaving the nest and heading out into the great big world. This class assures me they will win the “Best Class Ever” award. All of my graduates know what they have to do! I am looking forward to designating it, so fingers crossed! Good luck to my graduates, I am already super proud!

On behalf of the Iowa Society for Respiratory Care, the Sunflower Award nomination page is now open! This was posted on Connect, but for non-members, this award is a way to recognize an Iowa RT for being a leader in patient service, teamwork, and positivity. There will be two winners per year. The first nomination period is from now to January 31st, with the winner announced at the Iowa Lung Conference (April 3-4, 2025).
