Waterloo Fire Rescue participated in a Rib Eating Contest at Texas Roadhouse in Cedar Falls last night. They competed against various Cedar Falls public agencies. Waterloo’s Fire Chief Beck came in 3rd place. Thank you to Texas Roadhouse for the invitation and opportunity to bring these services together to pig out!

Shout out to our new recruits who have been training hard in this miserable heat the past few weeks! Pictured below they are practicing vehicle extrication training along with Captain Jensson and the crews from 301 & 303.

WFR firefighers are working to keep it cool during department apparatus relay pump training this week. This scenario, led by Captain Jensson, is a three engine evolution elevated master stream set up. Relay pumping is predominately utilized when water supply line stretches are particularly long and boosted intake pressures are required for effective fire streams. PSA this week: be sure to stay hydrated before, during, and after working outside.
