Introducing the light and dark mead labels in this year's barrel-aged beer lineup for 2023. I'm excited to head into the winter season, have time for brand design, and flex my art muscles. Here is my first winter project wrapped!

The BHB crew tossed out the idea of Perzival and Ferifeiz, laying down their rich history. As I jumped into research, I envisioned them as the protagonists of dark and light Tarot cards. I did original watercolor paintings for these as it is one of my favorite mediums and fits the vibe. Like yin and yang, the beers begged for a representation of their opposing flavors on the labels.

🌑 Feirefiz 9.3% | 0 IBU
This beautiful dark libation was spontaneously fermented and aged in a Hungarian Oak barrel out in the Alaskan elements for 6 months. The associate brewer, Rick, combined wheat and roasted barley with honey from the Pacific Northwest to create this naturally soured black braggot. The label spills the secrets with details of smoke, cacao, and coffee plants, portraying the essence of these tasting notes.

🌕 Parzival 12.6% | 0 IBU
This traditional bochet honey mead was aged in a once-used Alaskan wheat whiskey barrel. After sitting on wood for 6 months, this mead expresses delicate flavors of caramel, wildflowers, and spice. The label shares details of wheat and oak leaves, paying homage to the barrel, while wildflowers nod to the floral notes. Oh, and there's a holy grail tucked into the border—a nod to the knight's journey of eventually finding the coveted treasure.

We have been quietly working away on some awesome projects, and I want to introduce the first one today!

Remember how I told you I was starting a flower farm? Well, I did, and I freaking love it! I've taken a bit of time off from sharing on social but made sure to still document tons to share later, and now is that time! As the season progressed, it became clear that I didn't want to do this alone. So, I asked a few talented farmers to meet up after the season and share notes. We quickly started meeting often and decided to create a cooperative to sell our flowers together to our local florists and community!

We are over the moon about this development and are just getting started! This week we have a ton of flowers coming in to have a photoshoot done. As you can imagine, we are not making money in the off-season so we would like to sell these blooms and offer some early arrangements to offset some start-up costs. Today, I wanted to take a moment to get the conversation going and share that I have been working on this career shift for years. With a 15 year career in wedding/portrait photography, it has taken a few years to cycle out of my wedding commitments. The client journey was often 2+ years from initial inquiry to engagement pictures, wedding day, and then babies led to family portraits. I have photographed some families for over 10 years. It's been a fun and wild ride!

I have had a few dreams tugging at my heart for quite a while now and I am thrilled to start sharing more as this new chapter unfolds. I have run multiple businesses over the years and nothing was done by accident. I used to be annoyed that I couldn't pick just one thing and many business advisors warned me to not do too much because of what people might think. Honestly, now after running so many things, I'm convinced that's ridiculous advice! Try as many things as you want, grow, learn, stretch and you just might find some magic in being flexible and versatile. Challenging yourself builds character and I'm so grateful for everything I learned along the way.

From a successful Etsy shop "side-hustle" bringing in a cool 80k to many 6 figure years in photography, I started to recognize patterns for success in any business. This only became clearer when my husband and I added a co-working space and a brewery to the lineup of business we might "try." Lastly, running a business networking chapter for The Rising Tide Society for 5 years has allowed me the honor of walking beside hundreds of other creators, hustlers and boss babes/gents navigating the arena of entrepreneurship.
