After finding out my sixth grade ELA position was unexpectedly eliminated at my school, the same day my hubby surprised me with a trip to my happy place! We haven’t been back to the place we called home for ten years since we left in 2012. The week was spent with our maid of honor and best man camping on the bay all weekend, soaking up the sun, and reconnecting with old friends and coworkers who we haven’t seen in nearly ten years! It was the perfect pick-me-up! I am so grateful that I was able to get my toes in that sugar white sand before all of the back to school chaos starts. Thank you ❤️

After spending the last year teaching sixth grade ELA, I am moving back to second grade due to low numbers in sixth. I taught second grade in FL for years and absolutely loved it. I’m looking forward to a brand new adventure with an AMAZING team. 💙💛

Lazy summer days are for lounging by the pool and reading awesome PD books like this one. My focus for next year will be improving grammar instruction with Mentor Sentences. My plan is to tie them to my novels. I have never been a fan of teaching grammar in isolation 😝- it simply does not work. Have you read this book? Do you use Mentor Sentences in your ELA classroom? Do you like to read professional development books during the summer? I do especially while at the beach or poolside. Now that I am in ELA, I don’t know which book to buy. Both of these have been highly recommended to me. Thanks for your suggestions.
