Coach Cory Fastpitch

As a pitching coach this is what I'm looking for more than anything else. π Efficient transfer of energy through the kinetic chain which means having a deceleration sequence of hip/chest/upper arm/forearm. Without this, the body is not moving in the most efficient way. Which also means that velocity is left on the table and injuries could occur from moving incorrectly.
This ALSO MEANS that if the body is moving efficiently, then making adjustments to typical "bad form movements" like a swimming glove, slight posture issue, drag foot, sideways knee drive, etc might not be the correct thing to do. Sometimes the body moves differently than typical "good mechanics" but is still efficient with it's energy transfer. Messing with something that you don't like visually could actually mess up the deceleration sequence of that individual. π€
Thank you 4D Motion for giving us the technology to measure this type of data! My best pitchers all consistently have proper deceleration sequences. The data does not lie!
I may just be a pitching coach who played for Pitt, but I'm a nerd at heart who continues her pitching education year after year. Before being a pitching coach, I was a 4.0 student with six AP classes and entered college an entire semester ahead. I nearly aced my science and math ACTs and my math SAT, was accepted to UPenn, but decided that a full athletic scholarship to Pitt was the correct decision for me not only educationally with their top tier science and medical programs, but also financially. Additionally, I was accepted to the Pitt's Honors College. I also hold a master's degree and assisted in PhD research labs during grad school. I'm smarter than I look! ππ€

always impressing me with her ability to move the ball! Her ability to get vertical separation of about 8-10 inches between her drop/curve and rise is awesome! Plus a nice screw with some lift & positive horizontal break and a change up that she can locate.
