Goldenrod is a lifesaver for honeybees ๐Ÿ๐ŸŒผ
It blooms late in the season, giving bees the nectar and pollen they need to make winter honey and stay strong until spring. ๐Ÿฏโœจ

Itโ€™s that time of year again when honeybees get mistaken for wasps. Itโ€™s only Wednesday, and Iโ€™ve already had four calls โ€” and removed two wasp nests.

Hereโ€™s the difference:
๐Ÿ Honeybees are fuzzy, gentle, and only sting once (and only if threatened).
๐Ÿชฐ Wasps are smooth, aggressive, and can sting multiple times without losing their stinger.

Bees are our pollinating friends โ€” wasps, not so much. I recommend getting some wasp spray or calling an exterminator.

SO many Bees! ๐Ÿ
In July, a healthy honeybee hive typically contains between 40,000 and 80,000 bees, depending on factors like the region, forage availability, and the strength of the queen.

Queen: 1

Workers (females who do all the foraging, nursing, guarding, etc.): ~95% of the hive!!

Drones (males) a few hundred to a few thousand, usually more in spring and early summer
