ASA thanks the bipartisan group of lawmakers who have cosponsored the No Surprises Act Enforcement Act. The No Surprises Act protects patients while helping physicians resolve payment disputes, but weak enforcement has let insurers engage in harmful payment practices without real consequences. This new bill strengthens the enforcement provisions that hold insurers accountable for late or missing payments, restoring Congressional intent.
Now we need your help to keep the momentum going. Ask your lawmaker to support the No Surprises Act Enforcement Act:

Following advocacy by ASA and the D.C. Society of Anesthesiologists, the D.C. Department of Health has rejected the misleading phrase “nurse anesthesiologist” from proposed regulations. Their decision reinforces existing law and patient transparency by affirming that “nurse anesthesiologist” is not a legally recognized title in D.C. or anywhere in the United States: https://www.asahq.org/advocacy-and-asapac/fda-and-washington-alerts/washington-alerts/2026/06/asa-applauds-dc-department-of-healths-rejection-of-misleading-nurse-anesthesiologist-phrase
