Coach Pete/Repetitions Baseball: K-IT-S (Keep it Simple)

Working with JoeJoe, to build a strong/quick/consistent and controlled swing.

- Starting with Coach Pete's approach to plate positioning. Most young players are not sure where to stand in reference to the plate, in order to be in a better position to hit the inside/middle/outside pitch. My Thought is that you should lineup at least the length of the size of your feet. This should put you in a good position to cover the whole plate, for any pitch thrown.

- The Speed Stick: Helps practice staying inside the ball, and helps focus on where contact should happen.

- The Heavy Ball: Works to help get your lower half involved for power, and not relying on your upper half to supply the power. Practicing with the Heavy Ball, also helps to work on keeping your hands inside the ball on your swing.

- Tee Work: Using regular sized baseballs or whiffle balls, continues working on the swing mechanics that have been performed, using the previous drills. This should be performed with focus on driving the baseball back up the middle, and to the back of the cage or in this case, to second base.

- Live Pitches: The final drill is swinging at live pitches or front toss. Focusing on seeing the ball from the pitchers release, all the way to contact point. Allowing your hips to lead your hands to the ball. Term: Strong on the Bottom, Quick on the Top.
