🥩 Did you know the new federal Dietary Guidelines specifically recommend eating meat, poultry, and eggs as part of a healthy diet?

The 2025–2030 Dietary Guidelines for Americans say to "consume a variety of protein foods from animal sources, including eggs, poultry, seafood, and red meat" — and they raised the recommended daily protein intake too!

Real food, real nutrition. That's something we've always believed — and now it's official federal guidance.

Today, Michael Schumpp, Senior Director of International Affairs at the Meat Institute, testified before the House Agriculture Committee to highlight the critical benefits that the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) has had for the U.S. agriculture sector and rural economies.

The Meat Institute supports renewing USMCA for another 16-year term as provided under the agreement, while addressing any issues through existing consultative mechanisms rather than renegotiation. The Meat Institute also supports the preservation of common meat product names.

The Meat Institute is grateful toward President Donald J. Trump and the Trump Administration for its leadership in support of our members. Meat packers and processors are especially appreciate of the bold leadership of the U.S. Department of Agriculture and Secretary Brooke Rollins, who has already acted to improve food safety, roll back burdensome regulations for the industry, and fight for market access abroad.

Today, we released the Make Our Children Healthy Again strategy—the most significant reform of food and healthcare policy in modern history. 09/10/2025
