Most people come to South Africa for a safari. But each year, the Wild Coast puts on one of nature's greatest marine spectacles—the annual Sardine Run—and not many people know about it.

Between June and July, massive shoals of sardines move along the coast, drawing dolphins, sharks, whales, and gamefish into an extraordinary feeding frenzy—and you can often see it right from shore.

Head out by boat to follow the action. Or slip into the water with expert marine guides for a front-row seat to one of the ocean’s most remarkable wildlife events.

After a day on the water, you return to an intimate lodge on this wild stretch of coast, employing people from the local Mpondo community. From the deck, you might spot a breaching whale. From your room, dolphins moving through the surf.

If you're curious about a different side of South Africa, we'll help you find it.

Travel has the power to be a force for good.
For Elizabeth Gordon, our co-founder and CEO, responsible travel means choosing places that are deeply connected to their communities, where local people are part of the experience, not separate from it.

It’s a belief that shapes how we travel.
