My heart is absolutely broken right now.

Just got the news that Charlene passed away, and I'm sitting here trying to process losing someone who meant so much to me and to our entire beauty community.

These photos are from the last time we worked together at the Grammys. Looking at them now, I can still hear her laugh and feel that energy she brought everywhere she went.

Charlene wasn't just an incredible hairstylist. She was a staple in the DMV beauty industry. If you were a model, actress, or local celebrity in this area, there's a good chance Charlene touched your hair at some point. Her work spoke for itself, but it was her spirit that made her unforgettable.

Everyone loved her. That bubbly energy she had? It wasn't just for show. That was genuinely who she was, every single day, with every single person.

Hair was her absolute passion, but she had this way of connecting with people that went beyond the chair. We traveled to St. Thomas together and she stayed with me and my family and ended up cutting my aunt's hair. Even after my aunt passed two years ago, Charlene always asked about her. Always remembered. That's the kind of person she was.

I hope they're reconnecting now, wherever they are.

When we were grinding together early in my career, she showed me what it meant to really show up for people. Every single time.

And y'all, she could get into ANY event or party. Didn't matter if we weren't on the list or if security was tight. Charlene would find a way, flash that smile, and get to talking, and somehow we'd be inside. She made every gig feel like an adventure.

We rocked hard together until our roads split. But we built memories I'll carry forever. And now I'm holding onto every single one of them a little tighter.

Rest easy, my friend. Thank you for every laugh we shared and every door you somehow got us through.

The DMV lost a real one.
