Hello again! This post is for those who are still on the fence about applying with our 2018 U.S. Youth Ambassadors program. Here are 10 reasons why you should definitely click on this link (https://youthambassadors.worldlearning.org/YA/wl_sitelogin) and get started on your application:
1. This program is a fully funded experience for 120 U.S. students and adult mentors that kicks off with a 3-week exchange abroad in Central and South America. Full scholarships are provided by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, U.S. Department of State.
2. This will be one of the best ways to spend your summer- having fun while learning and serving as a Youth Ambassador for the United States.
3. Through this program, you will have the opportunity to meet amazing people and develop not only lifelong friendships, but also meaningful connections that will support you through your academic and professional career – just ask our Youth Ambassadors Alumni!
4. Youth Ambassadors has exchanges available in Argentina & Chile; Brazil; Dominican Republic; Ecuador; and Uruguay
5. You still have until January 12th to complete the application; it is not too late!
6. Gain valuable life skills through experiential learning activities including leadership trainings, civic activities at the community level, mentoring sessions from community, business, and NGO leaders, and formative volunteering experiences. Explore your interests through these opportunities!
7. When you go back to school next fall and people ask what you did this summer, you’ll have the best stories to tell 😊 Share stories about your host family, your new foreign language skills and or your new perspective on the world around you.
8. Dreaming of changing the world around you? One of our program components is developing a yearlong community service project upon your return to the U.S. Participants will be supported throughout the process by our team in order to help you make a profound impact on your community!
9. Participating in this exchange will also make you a strong, well rounded applicant for colleges. Think about it - A candidate who has designed and implemented their own community service project and participated in an international exchange will be a top applicant for sure.
10. U.S. Youth Ambassadors programs will enable you to change the world around you. What more could you ask for?
We hope this list convinced you to apply – if not, please reach out to us at [email protected] with any questions! Good luck to those who have already started!
