The Community Security Service condemns the heinous attack targeting a Hanukkah celebration on Bondi Beach in Australia. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.

CSS is closely monitoring the situation in coordination with law enforcement and our communal partners, including any implications for the United States. We will provide additional guidance and support through our internal channels to protect Jewish life in this country.

We remind all community members to maintain heightened situational awareness and report any suspicious behavior immediately to law enforcement.

Some of CSS’s most impactful work is done by the young professionals that protect large and small Jewish events as part of our ROAM program.

What began in NYC has now expanded to Washington DC, Los Angeles and Philadelphia, with a fifth team starting in Miami in 2026. This year alone, nearly 200 active ROAM volunteers protected 75 Jewish events, safeguarding over 180,000 attendees.

Hear Adi, our events lead, share an example of how CSS volunteers confronted protestors to ensure a Jewish event continued without disruption.

CSS’s ROAM program was featured in EJewish Philanthropy : “When it comes to security, nobody knows the community better than people from the community. And nobody’s going to care more about the safety of the people inside the Jewish event or synagogue than people whose own family and friends are members.” — CSS CEO Richard Priem
