I grew up dancing, singing, and playing musical instruments โ€” performing was my entire world. I also suffered from exercise induced migraines that would come on when we had long days of dancing and rehearsing in preparation for shows. I remember one specific time that I felt this headache coming on in the middle of an important rehearsal, and as much as I fought to hold it off, it won.

And I was devastated.

As a performer, you've been here before

- the fear that you'll never get that opportunity again to perform

I was fortunatne to have my dance teacher, Ms. Patricia Roe be my guiding light in that instance. She pressed on different points on my hands and made my pain go away

That planted a seed to connecting someone moving my body to feeling better and being able to perform

I went into physical therapy because I knew there had to be a better way to care for performing artists โ€” people whose bodies ARE their career. Today, I am that better way. Performance Plus Physical Therapy was built from that exact gap and experience.

Letโ€™s continue the conversation about ankle swelling reduction. In our last post we spoke about the the new guidelines of PEACE, now letโ€™s take a look at LOVE

The goal here is to give you a birdโ€™s eye view of your rehab process instead of focusing on just the initial symptoms. Many people do think that once the initial pain and swelling is resolved, that things should return to normal. Yes there is more work to do! - take a look at what comes next

After the acute phase - a few days after your injury , LOVE comes next.

Goal: Emphasize active recovery using movement and exercises.
