This Memorial Day, Food for All DC honors and remembers the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

As we reflect on their sacrifice, we are reminded of the importance of community, compassion, and caring for one another — values that continue to guide our work every day.

Wishing everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day.

⚡ What an incredible day of collaboration, innovation, and action at the 2026 Senior Hunger Conference hosted by Capital Area Food Bank and proudly sponsored by The Washington Home! 🍎

Addressing senior hunger takes all sectors working together - and this conference brought leaders across food access, healthcare, philanthropy, housing, and government into one powerful conversation focused on improving the lives of older adults across DC.

We were proud to have our CEO, Crystal Carr Townsend, join the panel “Turning Insight into Action - A Leadership Dialogue,” moderated by NBC Washington’s Jim Handly, alongside an outstanding group of changemakers:

-Charon P.W. Hines, Executive Director, DC Department of Aging and Community Living
-Radha Muthiah, CEO, Capital Area Food Bank
-David Poms, Manager, Government Affairs & Policy, DC Primary Care Association - DCPCA

☀ A major highlight of the day was the launch of The Washington Home’s new Healthy Food Access Collaborative - a $704,000 investment supporting a citywide initiative uniting 11 partners to tackle food insecurity through coordinated, wraparound support for older adults in our community.

Together, we are building stronger systems, deeper partnerships, and healthier futures for older adults in every ward of our city. 💙

FFA’s garden is bringing volunteers together to serve the community -- including our own clients!

Last week, George, a participant in FFA’s Food as Medicine program, became the first client to volunteer in the garden. He joined the rest of our volunteers to water plants, assemble planters, and help expand FFA’s ability to provide healthy foods to our community. 🥕🥬
