Celebrating National HIV Testing Day with Community Care 06/30/2026

June 27th was National HIV Testing Day β€” a moment to reflect on how far we've come and how much further we still need to go. πŸ’™

First observed in 1995, at the height of the HIV/AIDS epidemic, this day is a reminder that knowing your status is one of the most powerful acts of self- and community care.

NASTAD and the Together TakeMeHome project are proud to be part of a nationwide effort to make HIV self-testing more accessible than ever. Since launching in 2022, the program has distributed over one million free HIV self-tests across all 50 states, Washington D.C., and Puerto Rico β€” surpassing its original five-year goal.

About 1 in 4 recipients reported it was their first time ever getting tested for HIV. That's the power of access.

One test can save a life. If you or someone you know hasn't been tested, today is the day. Check out our recent blog post to learn more: https://nastad.org/blog/celebrating-national-hiv-testing-day-community-care
