Here's a values clarity practice that gets underneath the surface faster than most:

Ask yourself: What have I never been willing to compromise on — even when it cost me something?

Not what you wish you'd protected. What you actually, in practice, have refused to give up.

That answer is sitting closer to your real values than most things you'd write on a list.

When your leadership is built from that place — not from what you're supposed to value, but from what you genuinely can't help valuing — everything gets more aligned.
