Over the past five years, slang has become a major part of everyday communication, especially through social media platforms like TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and X. These words and phrases spread quickly online and reflect current trends, humor, and digital culture.

Some of the most popular slang terms include “rizz,” meaning charm or the ability to attract someone; “delulu,” meaning unrealistically hopeful or delusional; “mid,” meaning average or unimpressive; and “NPC,” which describes someone who lacks originality or follows the crowd. Other common expressions include “no cap,” meaning “I’m telling the truth,” “bet,” meaning “okay” or “I agree,” and “cooked,” meaning someone is in trouble or exhausted.

Slang is also used to compliment people. For example, “slay” means to do something exceptionally well, “ate” means someone gave an outstanding performance, and “GOAT” stands for “Greatest of All Time.” Phrases like “it’s giving” describe the vibe of something, while “main character energy” refers to someone who is confident and stands out.

Overall, slang from the last five years shows how language evolves with technology and online culture. Although some expressions fade over time, many become part of everyday conversations and help people connect with current trends.
