Another observation is many exiled opposition figures including parts of their leadership openly sympathetic to Iranian authorities. I understand opposition to war as a position. However, sympathizing with or remaining silent about state repression is a different matter. To date, there has been little visible condemnation from these circles regarding the suppression of protests in Iran. How does an opposition movement end up to this conclusion even living in Europe where political and intellectual environments have largely condemned repression. One possible explanation is the absence of independent analytical frameworks within parts of this opposition. It is a big weakness that ultimately needs to be addressed.
