What a fantastic event! Along with Hill & Hurtt Architects and MPR Architecture, we designed and built a structure out of canned goods to raise awareness for hunger in our community. There are so many beautiful designs to see at the building museum. Come visit next Friday thru Monday. And if you want to help, they are raising funds thru the end of the month.

Visit the National Building Museum to see this year's CANstruction sculptures! The theme is Children's Books and each structure will highlight a different book. 📖
Canstruction is a nationwide program that aims to raise awareness about hunger. In DC, Canstruction is organized by the Washington Architectural Foundation as a creative design-build competition that benefits the Capital Area Food Bank through donations of canned goods. Teams from architecture and design firms from Washington, DC use their skills to build sculptures out of cans of food. The nutritious shelf-stable food is donated to the CAFB for distribution to those in need after the event.

The CANstruction build will take place on Sunday, November 21st at the National Building Museum, with the final designs being on display in the museum’s Great Hall from Monday, November 22nd through Monday, November 29th. This year’s theme is Children’s Books, and our sculpture is inspired by “The Giving Tree” by Shel Silverstein. https://www.aiadc.com/event/canstruction
We are looking for sponsors to help us reach our goal of providing over 2,000 canned goods to needy families this season. If you can spare a donation of even 10 cans (about $25), please see our fundraising link below.

It’s always so great to bring an old home back to life. We raised the ceilings, recreated the original crown molding, “hid” the TV, the closet doors and the air return, and introduced these awesome arches on each end of the dining room … and we’re not even finished yet!
