What happens when you intentionally create space for connection?
On Friday, we found out.
Our first Quick Connect brought together the people we support, welcoming volunteers, and our incredible DSPs for an afternoon centered around one simple idea: getting to know one another.
There was a little nervous excitement at first—that feeling we all get when we’re about to meet someone new. But it didn’t take long before the room came alive. Every table was filled with conversation, laughter, thoughtful questions, and genuine curiosity. You could see people leaning in, listening, sharing, and enjoying the moment.
Our volunteers created a warm, welcoming atmosphere from the very beginning. They didn’t just help facilitate conversations—they became part of them, making everyone feel comfortable, included, and heard.
Our DSPs also went above and beyond, preparing and butler-serving delicious appetizers, including fresh guacamole with tortilla chips and mini Caprese salads, while providing thoughtful support throughout the event. They knew exactly when to offer encouragement and when to step back, allowing the people they support to build confidence and let their personalities shine.
And then something wonderful happened.
When the event officially ended…people didn’t rush home.
They stayed.
Conversations continued. Laughter carried on. Phone numbers were exchanged. New friendships began to take shape. The excitement lingered long after the structured part of the event was over because something real was happening.
Moments like these remind us that friendship doesn’t happen by accident. It grows when people feel welcomed, included, and given the opportunity to connect.
Thank you to every volunteer, DSP, and participant who made our very first Quick Connect such a meaningful success. We can’t wait to see these new connections grow.
💙 Here’s to many more conversations, growing confidence, and lasting friendships.

Happy Disability Pride Month! 🌈
This July, we celebrate the strength, individuality, and contributions of people with disabilities while recognizing the rich history of the disability rights movement and the ongoing work to build a more inclusive world.
At Shared Wellness, we believe every person deserves to be seen, valued, respected, and empowered to thrive. Disability Pride Month is an opportunity to celebrate identity, honor advocacy, and reaffirm our commitment to creating communities where everyone belongs.
To kick off the month, we're sharing the first blog in our Disability Pride series, written by Julia. It explores the history of Disability Pride Month, the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and the movement that continues to inspire greater accessibility, dignity, and inclusion today.
