Kids in Capes Box Project

This were from our final packing day of boxes before we sent them off to Shriners! I might be just a little late in posting! 🫣

Rewind to the summer of 2002 when a family vacation turned into our worst nightmare. These photos show a quick glimpse of what the motor home looked like after the accident. My brother, Zach, suffered the most severe injuries and was Air Evac to St. Louis. We were told in the beginning they may not be able to save his leg. After over 20 surgeries, several weeks in the hospital and years of recovery he was able to walk away, on both legs, with a normal life ahead of him. Fast forward to today and Zach has a beautiful family and is doing well!

Some of you may have been following us and have seen our posts about our donation to Shriners Hospital. An opportunity came across my desk to do a service learning project and I couldn't help but think of Shriners Hospital. I wanted to give back to the organization that gave such a precious gift to our family. Our program was able to purchase, assemble and deliver 50 busy boxes, 50 blankets and 10 busy boards to the children in Shriners Hospital. We hand delivered our donation today and to our surprise the surgeon who saved my brother's leg was there to reunite with us! This project brought our family full circle! We were also able to show the children in our program first hand what it means to give back in such a big way!

Thank you to everyone who donated, shared our posts, all of the volunteers who made this possible and of course to Shriners Hospital for all you do! We are forever grateful!❤️
