Since 2019, researchers at CIEE and the CITRIS Climate initiative have been working with a group of residents in the City of Oakland - Local Government to give their neighborhood a first-of-its-kind eco-makeover. 🏘️🌿

The Oakland EcoBlock pilot project is building a new model for urban through block-scale retrofits. Dr. Therese Peffer, the principal investigator of EcoBlock, reflects on the project's progress in a recent blog: "Four and a half years later, we’ve seen team members come and go, babies being born on the block, and more EVs driving around Oakland. We’ve learned a great deal about working with an amazing community and new technologies, and look forward to sharing our lessons learned!"

Our shop roof was uninsulated and was terribly inefficient. Because it was made of metal, comfort was an impossibility too. We installed Rigid Foam insulation under a standing seam metal roof to make it bulletproof. Crazy project but a huge improvement in comfort and efficiency! Enjoy the video
