Wahoo Elementary Music

This was the highlight of my week!!! I highly recommend!
Such a great performance in an absolutely beautiful venue! Grab those tickets!!

The kiddos know abstract art is my favorite! You can’t mess it up!😉
If it’s time for a little down time with no screen involved, try abstract scribble art!
What you will need…
White paper
Markers, crayons, colored pencils, or oil pastels
Directions…
Lay paper on the table and pick a marker color
Turn on some calm instrumental music (links below)
Close your eyes and listen to the music for a few seconds
Keeping your eyes closed, put the marker to the paper and start moving it to the music around the paper in big loops and lines for 15-30 seconds
Do not peek and do not scribble!
Open your eyes to see what you have created
Start coloring each “section” in with a different color or pattern.
If you are adding patters, do the marker work 1st. Markers don’t like to work over crayons!
Be sure to send me a pic of your scribble masterpiece!

Make it a game day! Easy prep and tons of fun!
What you will need…
Plastic bags (grocery or trash bags)
Sprinkler
Device to play music

Musical Islands: Place bags around the yard as "islands." While the music plays, kids must hop, run, dance around the yard. When the music stops, they must quickly jump onto an island. Remove one island each round until only one champion remains. Cue up the Beach Boys or island music, turn on the sprinkler, and GO! Adjust rules as you see fit!

You could modify for indoors by using towels or pillows around the room!

Invite the neighborhood and have a blast!

Good Monday morning! I LOVE integrating music and art! This super fun project could be done indoors or outside (I prefer outside for sure!) with things you have at home! Grab a piece of paper and some markers, crayons, chalk, pastels or if you’re brave…paint! 😁

Well, the first week of summer break has not been sunshine and heat, but here’s a great way spend some time this afternoon, or on any rainy/cold day!
The kiddos started watching Mary Poppins in May, but we ran out of time to finish! You can find it on Disney, YouTube and other steaming services! Follow it up with Mary Poppins Returns! (This is on my “watch” list this summer

School may be out, but stay tuned for some fun ways to keep that middle brain (our emotional hub) active and growing! I’ll be posting fun and easy ideas and activities your kiddos can do at home!
