Last week our team took some time to get off-site to design together the conversations that will shape the 2026 Prosper Waco Summit. We aren’t planning a conference. We’re honoring the legacy of the visionary community leaders who founded Prosper Waco with the goal of creating space for our community to tackle Waco’s biggest opportunities together.

This year’s Summit will feature conversations and breakouts that don’t fit neatly in own category, because our biggest challenges don’t either. Health, education, workforce, housing, economic mobility….where these issues intersect is where solutions are found.

Tickets and sponsorship opportunities are available now (link in comments below!). Join us in the room where ideas become action!

Mental health challenges continue to impact individuals and families across Texas communities.

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA):
* More than 1 in 5 Texans age 18 and older experienced a mental illness in the past year
* Approximately 1 in 20 Texans experienced a serious mental illness in the past year
* Nearly 1 in 20 Texans seriously considered su***de within the last year

Access to care remains a significant challenge across the state.

According to Mental Health America:
* Texas ranks 41st in the nation for overall adult mental health and access to care
* Texas ranks 50th in the nation for access to mental health care
* Texas ranks last in the nation for the percentage of adults with mental illness who lack health insurance
* Texas also ranks last for adults experiencing frequent mental distress who could not see a doctor because of cost

These statistics highlight the importance of continued investment in behavioral health services, early intervention, coordinated care and community-based support systems across Texas and within local communities like McLennan County.

We are excited that we got to tour Waco Family Medicine's new Street and Mobile Team at The Hangar today! This great initiative provides care in non-traditional settings across the greater Waco community including from a mobile medical unit, on foot to individuals living unsheltered, and in transitional or newly housed environments.

Thank you to Waco Family Medicine's Street & Mobile Team for the opportunity to learn more about this important work!
