Cameron Park Zoo

There are several reasons why you may not see an animal out on exhibit, and these include cleaning, habitat enhancement projects, and pool maintenance! 🐪🦒🐅

For example, each week the Animal Care team cleans a different pool. While they try to do this early in the day or when the Zoo is not open, it could be the reason you don't see a certain animal. We have some projects coming up soon so stay tuned for those details! 👀

Summer hours are in full swing at ! The Zoo will now be open for longer hours on Sundays, June-August, to accommodate for warmer temperatures 🌞

Monday-Sunday: 9am-5pm with last entrance at 4:30pm 🦒🐢🐟🐊

Excitement continues in 's penguin colony with the hatch of a second African penguin chick on May 9! 🐧

While first time parents Rosie and Rupert are the biological parents, the choice was made to have experienced penguin pair Lil’ Jim and Dottie step in as foster parents to ensure the chick had the greatest chance of success.

The chick is growing fast and may be viewable in the coming weeks as he peeks out from his nest box on habitat 👀 Stay tuned in to our penguin journey as you never know WADDLE happen next!

As Cameron Park Zoo looks toward the future, we’re reflecting on both incredible growth and meaningful change. Following the loss of Tembo and the conclusion of our elephant program, our team has been thoughtfully planning what’s next for the Zoo and the experiences we create for our community.

From expanded habitats to new guest experiences and conservation focused growth, this next chapter is just beginning.
