Today was a big day in first grade! Today my kids had to read the reading passage on their assessment all by themselves!! As a teacher it is so nerve wracking the first day you let your little ones fly solo on an assessment! I was definitely more nervous than them! We decided to make it a HUGE deal that they are officially readers and throw them a party!! I want to show you their cute little faces and reactions to this surprise party but at least I can share pictures of my 45 minute room transformation! We celebrated becoming “Royal Readers” this afternoon complete with a red carpet and crowns. My kids did incredible on their assessment!! I am so stinkin proud of them it isn’t even funny! This is a new tradition that I will do every year with my firsties! I believe that they now see themselves as readers because I first saw them that way!!
