We are incredibly humbled and grateful to the Greater Waco Chamber for trusting us with the opportunity to produce this legacy video honoring Monte Hulse as the 2026 Thomas G. Salome Jr. Legacy Award recipient.

Getting to tell Monte’s story was a lesson in what genuine community stewardship looks like. By taking a risk on a small bank in Mart, Texas, and growing The First National Bank of Central Texas from $27 million in assets to nearly $2 billion in assets, Monte proved that business success and community betterment go hand in hand.

But his legacy goes far beyond banking. Whether it was his pivotal (and often behind-the-scenes) role in saving the Waco VA, his support for Waco Family Medicine, or his guidance during critical moments for local industry, Monte has always been there serving without selfish motives. As his friends and colleagues shared, he leads by example, mentoring the next generation not just to be better bankers, but to be better people.
