Today I have the opportunity to conduct a signing and educate clients on an important part of what we do as notaries. Many people don’t realize that even if a signer does not have a valid form of ID, the signing may still be completed legally and properly.

As a notary, I can verify a signer’s identity through a method called Identification by Credible Witness. In this process, two credible witnesses are required to personally know the signer and swear under oath to the signer’s identity. This ensures the signing remains compliant, secure, and legally valid.
