‼️SCAM ALERT‼️
Storey County residents are being warned about two active phone scams targeting the community.
In one scam, callers claim to be Storey County Sheriff’s Office deputies and demand payment, stating a warrant will be issued if the person does not comply. In another, callers claim the recipient missed jury duty and must act immediately to avoid arrest.
Both scams are fraudulent.
Storey County will never demand payment, request personal information, or threaten arrest over the phone.
If you receive one of these calls:
Do not provide personal or financial information
Do not engage with the caller
Hang up immediately
To verify or report the call, contact:
Storey County Sheriff’s Office: 775-847-0959
Storey County Clerk’s Office: 775-847-0969
Always verify before responding to suspicious calls.
