Too many people think Pride is about s*x. It actually started as a riot from people who were tired of being targeted and attacked. They finally stood up for themselves.
It's not about rainbows, but they're a reminder that gay people have always existed and always will. As a dog trainer who goes into strangers homes for living, I absolutely feel safer and more comfortable going into a home with a pride flag. Simply knowing I won't be judged for who I love.
People can't even refrain from laughing at a Pride post on social media. What do you think they do when they see us existing in the world, happily living our lives?
Pride is important because straight people don't have to think twice before kissing their wife in public. Because even during Pride month, as we proudly share our excitement, people choose to laugh instead of listen.
We've been yelled at, cursed at, and called slurs by people we called friends and family. Constantly chastised by the "Christians" who tell us to love thy neighbor. I knew a preacher who cheated on his wife with a (married) member of his congregation. He then got divorced and was still allowed to preach in another church. Y'all love to shout that gay love is a sin, but are real quiet when divorce is brought up.
Your religion does not dictate the lives of others. Especially when you're cherrypicking scripture to fit the narrative.
My wife is the best thing that's ever happened to me. I thank God for her every day. Love isn't a sin, but hate and bigotry are 💜

Oh, my heart 💔
When I first saw this trend, I knew I had to do it. It took me about a week to get through it 😅😭
My wife and I have lost too many dogs in the last few years, including all three in this post:
1. Muffin, my baby boy. Taken unexpectedly and way too soon 🧁
2. Conway, my honeybee. My first foster fail, my OG old man 🥹
3. Willie, our most recent hospice dog, who passed in February. He looked at us in a way that told us how much he loved and appreciated us 💜
We miss these boys and all of the other dogs we've lost in these last few years 🐾
