In praise of our beloved Luisa Ruggeri, keeper of the Humanities Lounge in SAC 304, from a grateful Class of 2020🎓And for many of us, this Hopkins-esque poem recalls the important contributions of our equally dear Marie Kelly, previous keeper of the Lounge. Thank you, Luisa and Marie, for your dedicated service and contributions to the Department of Humanities! You are the heart of our department. ❤️

And now for the wonderful conclusion to the poem:

And for all this, Luisa is never spent;
There lives the deepest resilience in her Italian blood;
And though the last lights off SAC 304 went,
Oh, morning, at the brown brink eastward, springs —
Because Luisa Ruggieri over the lounge
Keeps watch with a mother’s sharp look and with ooh! Edible things!
