Brushes with Cancer: Art Exhibition and Celebration is coming to Philadelphia this fall and we cannot wait to celebrate with you!

Join us on Sunday, November 15th, 2026 at Lilah in Fishtown as we come together to honor the stories of survivors, previvors, caregivers, and loved ones — all brought to life through original works of art created by some incredibly talented artists in our community. 🧡

Every piece on the wall tells a real story. Every ticket supports free art therapy programming for anyone touched by cancer. Every person in that room is part of something bigger than themselves.

We are so excited to announce the completion of the Bernard Zell Anshe Emet Day School “Share, Connect, Heal” artwork created in honor of beloved math teacher, Karen Manilow.

The school hosted a beautiful art therapy event spearheaded by alum, Naomi Herman, and led by art therapist and Twist Out Cancer staff, Jackie Carmody. The art therapy directive involved a heartfelt tribute to Karen Manilow, a beloved math teacher who passed away after a courageous battle with Breast Cancer.

The completed artwork serves as a testament to the powerful connection the BZ community had with Ms. Manilow. She was not only a teacher, but a mentor, friend, sister, daughter, mother, and grandmother.

Art therapy provided a unique avenue for expression, allowing the individuals who contributed to this artwork to process complex emotions, grieve, and find solace in a creative and supportive environment.
