***PRESS RELEASE - PORT OF VICTORIA PARTNERS WITH BLUE ENERGY TO ADVANCE SMALL MODULAR NUCLEAR POWER PROJECT***
The Victoria County Navigation District (Port of Victoria) is proud to announce it has signed an option agreement with Blue Energy, an advanced nuclear power company, to lease approximately 70 acres at the Texas Logistics Center. The agreement enables Blue Energy to conduct feasibility studies and due diligence for the potential development of a modular nuclear power facility capable of generating up to 1.5 gigawatts (GW) of clean, reliable and affordable energy.
Founded in 2023, Blue Energy’s innovative design reimagines how new nuclear power plants are financed and built. Their plant design cuts construction costs and timelines, slashes time to power to 36 months or less with a natural gas bridge and makes nuclear power competitive with fossil fuels and renewables. The company prefabricates nuclear power plants in shipyards, simplifies construction with on-site, modular installation, and incorporates NRC-approved advanced nuclear reactors within structures submerged in water, leveraging passive safety systems and enabling efficient, scalable deployment. The first phase of the proposed project represents an initial capital investment of over $1 billion and is projected to create approximately 100 permanent, high-paying jobs in the Victoria region.
“Our mission is to deliver baseload, American-made megawatts of new nuclear power with unparalleled cost and timing efficiency,” said Blue Energy Co-Founder and CEO Jake Jurewicz. “The Port of Victoria offers the infrastructure, workforce, and long-term vision needed to help us realize that mission.”
The Port of Victoria continues to build momentum as a hub for next-generation industry.
“This project represents a major step forward in energy innovation and economic development for our region,” said Sean Stibich, Executive Director of the Port. “Blue Energy’s technology not only supports a stronger and more resilient power grid but also brings long-term investment and high-quality jobs to the Texas Logistics Center.”
“This is exactly the type of bold, future-focused investment we envisioned when developing the Texas Logistics Center,” added Byron Burris, Chairman of the Port of Victoria “Blue Energy’s project aligns perfectly with our goals of driving industrial growth, enhancing energy reliability, and creating long-term opportunities for the people of Victoria County.”
With more than 1,000 acres now under option and multiple developments progressing through advanced planning, the Port of Victoria remains a catalyst for transformational industrial growth.
