Aune Ranches Farm to Market Farmstand

Update on Hercules!
Well we got the big guy to stand up for a few minutes-very assisted, got a little more of his mamas milk in his belly & he will hang out in front of the heater for the evening & hopefully tomorrow will be a new day!
His face is still too swollen to drink milk on his own but 🤞🏻🤞🏻 in the next day he will get there!

Just when you think things are settling down.. that’s not a term in this lifestyle!!
Our morning started with a heifer we had purchased as being open(not bred) a couple months ago that we were feeding calving overnight!
Huge calf, huge surprise!! Almost not alive when we found it because we didn’t know she was pregnant so she was in the wrong place & a first time mom.
So we raced the calf in, got it in a warm bath, then got the 4H/FFA blower out & on the warm setting to start warming this fella up. Ran out of hot water, so made a makeshift calf warmer in front of the heater- shoulda just started with that!
Quintin was out of town for work of course, so thankfully a good friend ran over to help out & help brainstorm how to save this calf! He’s warming up, we have gotten a little colostrum in his belly. He’s still in his homemade calf warmer getting thawed out! We have a long ways to go but 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 next we will get mom in & start milking her out to give to him.

Days like today I’m so thankful for these premade hamburger patties!! They make life so much easier! They are good & you still know where your foods coming from!
Yes it would have been faster to swing through the drive through or go out to eat but that is expensive & I love knowing where my food came from!!
