Spotting little winged bugs around your windows, doorways, or porch lights this month? Take a closer look before you grab the spray.

May is peak termite swarm season here in Virginia, and a flying termite is very easy to mistake for a flying ant. Termites quietly eat into the wood that holds your house up.

If you are seeing swarmers in or around your Richmond home, that is one of the clearest signs of a termite issue nearby. We inspect first so you know exactly what you are dealing with before you spend a dollar, and we use Termidor treatments and Sentricon baiting systems when treatment is needed.

Call 804-735-0100 to schedule a termite inspection this week or visit lewispest.com/termite-services to learn more.

Not every call we get is about pests. Sometimes a customer calls because they have wildlife on the property that needs help.

This week our team got called out to a home in the area where an injured turkey vulture needed to be safely captured. Our technician got the bird secured so a wildlife rehabilitator could take over and give it the care it needed.

Turkey vultures play a real role in our local ecosystem, and they deserve the same careful, humane handling as any other animal we work with. Pest control is our everyday work, but the wildlife side of our job means we are out there handling whatever shows up, the right way, following Virginia guidelines.

If you ever come across an injured animal on your property, give us a call at 804-735-0100 or visit lewispest.com. We can help.

Hearing scratching, squeaking, or fluttering above the ceiling at night? You may have bats in the attic. May is one of the most important months to act on a bat issue here in Virginia.

Once maternity season begins, state guidelines limit when and how bats can be legally removed, which can mean waiting all summer to get the problem solved.
Bats are protected, and they play a real role in our local ecosystem, so they need to be handled the right way.

At Lewis Pest Control, we use photo evidence to show you exactly where bats are getting in. Then we plan a humane removal that follows Virginia guidelines and seals up the gaps so they cannot come back.

If you are hearing noises above your ceiling or seeing droppings near a vent, eave, or chimney, do not wait. Call 804 735 0100 to schedule a bat inspection before maternity season limits your options.
