It's so easy to visualize and the benefits are so obviously practical. Beyond that, it's something that can be used in all relationships - there's no reason it needs to be used specifically with our children. Our kids, when they are struggling with something, often feel alone. They could be feeling left out in school. They could be feeling frustrated about a situation with a sibling. Whatever it is, they are very likely feeling overwhelmed and alone in how to respond and how to get through the feeling. If we can effectively find them where they are and "sit" with them in whatever they're going through, they have a much higher chance of getting through it feeling in control and confident. For me, there is so much power in the part where she talks about your presence as an indication to your child to realize that "you still like them" when they're feeling that way, and that their overwhelming feelings aren't so overwhelming to you. The level of awareness in that is tremendous, and it makes so much sense that this would be beneficial in our communication, connection, and interactions with our children.
