This morning’s outage was caused by a routine software update from CrowdStrike, a leading cybersecurity company we rely on to protect our systems. The issue is not a security incident or cyberattack but a defect in a single content update for Windows hosts. Mac and Linux hosts are not affected.

What Happened:
CrowdStrike deployed an update aimed at enhancing security measures. Unfortunately, a defect in their "Falcon Sensor" antivirus software led to widespread disruptions. This issue caused Windows systems to crash and display a blue screen. The problem stems from a bug in the software, which is designed to protect Microsoft Windows devices from malicious attacks. An alert with a manual workaround was issued to clients early Friday morning.
