Three years ago, Abby McLean’s children were just 5, 9, and 11 years old when they survived the shooting at the Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee. What followed wasn’t just grief, but years of living with what that day changed — something both children and parents of the Covenant community are still carrying with them today.

Since then, Abby and other parents have continued to show up at the Tennessee State Capitol, sharing their stories and pushing for change, even when that effort has been met with inaction.

Behind her in this video is “Evelyn Wings,” an art piece honoring Evelyn Dieckhaus, one of six lives taken that day, alongside William Kinney and Hallie Scruggs, who were all just 9 years old, and Mike Hill, Katherine Koonce, and Cynthia Peak, who each played a role in caring for and supporting students.

Change doesn’t happen on its own. It happens because people refuse to stop pushing for it.

Join us for weekly calls and make your voices heard.

Every Wednesday we will be calling offices in support of one specific piece of legislation. Tuesday nights we will send out a list of five lawmakers to call, their phone numbers and a script to use. If you would like to join us making these calls, sign up at the link in our bio.

You can also make your calls any time. We have put together step by step directions to call your Representative and two Senators. There are even easy to use scripts for each of our policy priorities.
