What happens when you turn yesterday's office building into tomorrow's healthcare center?

You give an existing building a new purpose—one that expands access to care for an entire community.

Construction is officially underway as WarrenBuilds Maryland, a joint venture between WarrenBuilds and Coakley & Williams Construction, begins work on the new Prince George's County Outpatient Health Center in Greenbelt, Maryland.

Rather than building from the ground up, this project will transform an existing 80,000-square-foot, five-story office building into a state-of-the-art outpatient healthcare facility, improving access to critical healthcare services for Prince George's County residents.

Healthcare projects require thoughtful planning, technical expertise, and seamless coordination. From new clinical spaces and patient environments to upgraded building systems and infrastructure, every detail is designed to support exceptional patient care today while providing flexibility for the future.

We're proud to partner with Prince George's County, Maryland and our joint venture team to help bring this important project to life.

We look forward to sharing milestones as construction progresses!

WarrenBuilds completed exterior concrete sitework and pedestrian hardscape improvements as part of the new Suitland High School replacement project for Prince George’s County Public Schools.

Our scope included sidewalks, courtyard paving, planter walls, and ADA-accessible pathways integrated throughout the campus. The project required precise coordination with landscaping, architectural façade elements, and site utilities to deliver a clean, functional, and durable outdoor environment.

The new 389,108-square-foot facility will serve approximately 2,000 students across the Comprehensive High School (CHS) and Center for Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA), providing modern learning environments designed to support both academic and arts-focused instruction.

WarrenBuilds was proud to volunteer at one of the four annual Maryland Construction Career Days hosted by Maryland Center for Construction Education & Innovation(MCCEI).

Kwesi Akoto is joined with Andy Kobus and Thomas (TJ) Hance, MBA. It takes a village to show what's possible. Over 1,000 high schoolers joined us to explore construction, engineering, and architecture careers.

Our entire industry is working together to build the next generation of talent. Our shared goal is simple: expose more students to real career opportunities and help strengthen the future workforce.

The next event takes place September 16 in Baltimore. We encourage industry professionals to get involved and volunteer.

We recently had the opportunity to visit students participating in the DC Students Construction Trades Foundation at Phelps Architecture, Construction and Engineering High School.

What made the experience especially meaningful was watching the students react to WarrenBuilds’ 25-year anniversary video. When they learned that Shane Warren grew up and attended school in the area, you could feel the room shift a bit.

It stopped becoming “some construction company.”
It became someone from their community who built something real.
We believe representation matters.

Several students stayed afterward to ask questions, grab business cards, and talk about careers in construction management and the trades. One student has already reached out for guidance as he prepares to attend UDC to pursue construction management.

Moments like this are a reminder that workforce development is showing young people what’s possible.

Big thanks to Mr. Carroll and the DC Students Construction Trades Foundation for creating this opportunity to connect with the next generation of builders and to Kwesi Akoto for sharing your personal journey and experiences with the next generation of builders.
