Still using text-message codes for 2FA? That's the weakest version. Here's the better option and how to switch in under 2 minutes. π

Backup codes only work if they're actually backed up somewhere separate. π΅
A screenshot in your camera roll doesn't count if your phone is ever lost or stolen, that screenshot hands over both the account and the way back into it.
Better options: a password manager's secure notes, a printed copy in a locked drawer, or an encrypted file.
Small habit, big difference.

Be honest, which one are you using right now? π
SMS, an authenticator app, or a security key?
Drop your answer below. If you say SMS, don't worry, we're not judging, but we are going to tell you why it's time to switch. π

Your password used to be the whole lock. Now it's just the first one. π
Two-factor authentication adds a second checkpoint after your password, so a leaked or stolen password by itself isn't enough to get into your account.
Swipe through for the 3 types of 2FA, which one to avoid using as your main method, and which accounts to lock down first.
Full walkthrough (every platform, backup codes, common mistakes) is live on the blog: https://demystifybyte.com/
Quick question: Is your email account protected by anything more than a password right now?
If the answer's no, this one is worth ten minutes.
Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds a second lock after your password (a code from an app or a tap on your phone), so a stolen password by itself isn't enough to break into your account anymore.
Here's the part most people get wrong: text message codes are the weakest version of 2FA. They can be intercepted through a scam called SIM swapping. An authenticator app (free, takes 2 minutes to set up) is a much stronger choice, and it works across almost every account you have.
Start with your email and your bank. Those two matter most; everything else is easier to recover if those stay locked down.
We put together a full walkthrough covering every account type, how to save your backup codes so you're never locked out, and the setup mistakes that quietly cancel out the protection. Link below. π
