WEDNESDAY — The Feeling of Home
Before you choose the sofa, the rug, the paint color, or the light fixture, ask this:
How do I want my home to feel?
Choose five words.
Not Pinterest words.
Your words.
Warm.
Layered.
Peaceful.
Bold.
Welcoming.
Creative.
Elegant.
Moody.
Joyful.
Collected.
Restful.
Alive.
Those words become your filter.
If you want your home to feel calm, maybe every room does not need high contrast.
If you want it to feel storied, maybe you need antiques, books, art, and meaningful objects.
If you want it to feel joyful, maybe color deserves a bigger role.
If you want it to feel welcoming, maybe comfort matters as much as beauty.
Design is not just about how a room looks.
It is about how it receives you at the end of the day.
Prompt for today: What are five words you would use to describe how you want your home to feel?

America Is Built on Stories - So Is Your Home
MONDAY - Color Tells a Story
America has always been a story of many colors, influences, landscapes, and lives woven together.
Our homes should feel that way too.
One of the first places to start when creating a more personal home is color. Not the color you think you’re “supposed” to choose. Not the safest neutral. The colors you actually love.
Ask yourself:
What are 3–5 colors I’m always drawn to?
Why do I love them?
Do they remind me of a place, a person, a season, a memory, or a feeling?
Maybe it’s deep green because it feels grounding.
Maybe it’s blue because it reminds you of travel.
Maybe it’s terracotta because it feels warm and historic.
Maybe it’s gold because it feels collected and timeless.
Your home does not have to be loud to be personal. But it should have a point of view.
This week, in honor of America’s 250th, I’m sharing a little series on creating a home that tells your story.
Because the best homes are not model homes.
They are memory keepers.
