Happy Monday morning to all! It's fair season and a great time to share some advice from a seasoned 4-H'er who has been showing market steers for quite some time! Meet Delilah of New Haven 4-H Club!

"My favorite 4-H experience is getting to learn all about my animal - a steer. I have truly learned so much and it's always such a great experience. The thing about showing any animal is you have to put lots of time and work into your animal. Otherwise, it won't go your way in the show ring. I have been showing for 7 years and each and every year is a new learning experience. One person who has made a great impact on me would be our 4-H leader, Sharon. She puts in so much time for our 4-H club and makes sure everyone is able to join in. She truly makes 4-H awesome, and I'm sure a lot of other people would agree with me! Sharon always shows up to everything, and I can see how much she truly enjoys working with our 4-H members."

Delilah, thanks for sharing some great advice about putting in the time that it takes to achieve the results you want in the show ring! We would also like to give a shout out to Sharon Strubberg (leader of New Haven 4-H Club) for all the hours and heart that you've poured into leading for so many years! Good "CLUCK" to all our poultry exhibitors today at the Meramec Community Fair! The livestock shows kick off today starting with the Goat Show at noon, followed by the Poultry Show, followed by the Rabbit Show!

It's a beautiful summer day and the perfect time to share another great 4-H story! Meet Kelsey of New Haven 4-H Club. She enjoyed the foods project last year and even took a special field trip to St. Louis to see some of the awesome markets that carry everything you can imagine and more!

"My favorite 4-H experience was going to St. Louis for the foods project field trip on Mrs. Connie's bus. We went to Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, and World Market. My favorite was World Market because it was a very cute place. I bought a star fruit and got to try it for the very first time."

There certainly is a lot to see and taste when you visit the big markets of St. Louis. Keep exploring and trying new foods, Kelsey! We'd also like to give a special shout out to Connie Gildehaus for loading up her bus & taking her 4-H'ers on such a fun & educational outing! Watch out Miss Frizzle...Mrs. Connie's Magic School Bus is on the loose!
