What’s the difference between brushing your teeth at home and having our team clean your teeth during your regular dental exam?

At Shultz Family Dentistry, we use an electric brush and sometimes use a polisher to deep clean your teeth. This deep cleaning aims to remove extra plaque and tartar that couldn’t be removed manually. During your regular cleaning at the dentist's office, we will remove tartar in a procedure called scaling. After scraping off the hard tartar with special instruments, we may polish your teeth. Dental polishing can remove surface stains on teeth and leaves them shiny and smooth, putting the finishing touches on preventive dental treatment.

It’s electric! ⚡ Using an electric toothbrush can take your oral hygiene to the next level. Here are some benefits of brushing with an electric toothbrush:

🦷 Electric toothbrushes are more effective at removing plaque compared to manual brushing, helping to keep your teeth and gums healthy.
🦷 Many electric toothbrushes come with built-in timers to ensure you brush for the recommended two minutes.
🦷 The oscillating or rotating movements of electric toothbrush bristles are gentle on gums, reducing the risk of gum recession and sensitivity.
🦷 Electric toothbrushes often feature pressure sensors and different brushing modes to help you find your preferred brushing technique.
🦷 Electric toothbrushes can make brushing fun for kids with colorful designs and music timers, encouraging them to develop good oral care habits from a young age.

If you’re expecting, it’s crucial to keep up with your oral health and visit Shultz Family Dentistry for regular check-ups. Hormonal changes during pregnancy can affect your oral health and make gingivitis more common in expecting mothers. These changes can increase the blood flow to the gum tissue and cause your gums to be more sensitive, irritable, and swollen.
