Dear GWCES Families,
After much prayer and reflection, I want to personally share with you that I will no longer serve as Principal of George Washington Carver Elementary School. Beginning June 1st, I will transition into a new role as Director of Human Resources and Professional Learning for Macon County Schools.
Serving the GWCES community has truly been one of the greatest blessings of my life. The 11 years I spent as a GWCES teacher and the past 9 years as GWCES principal, along with my 3 years at Booker T. Washington High School as Assistant Principal, have been filled with unforgettable memories, meaningful relationships, growth, challenges, victories, and an unwavering commitment to our scholars.
Together, we have grown tremendously as a school family. I am especially proud that GWCES is being left as a B school on the Alabama State Report Card; a reflection of the hard work, dedication, and partnership shared among our scholars, faculty, staff, parents, and community. This accomplishment belongs to all of us.
Thank you for trusting me with your children, supporting our vision, encouraging our staff, and believing in the work happening at GWCES. Watching our scholars learn, grow, and succeed has been one of the greatest honors of my career.
Although my role is changing, my love and support for GWCES will never change. This school will always hold a special place in my heart. I will deeply miss seeing our scholars each day, greeting families, celebrating accomplishments, and serving all of you.
Thank you for allowing me to be part of your lives and your childrenβs educational journey. I am forever grateful for the love, support, and memories we have shared. I look forward to seeing you all throughout Macon County Schools.
Take good care,οΏ½Mr. Norman Williams, Jr.
