🍎 The Night Before Kindergarten Sessions

There are so many photos taken on the first day of school.

But what about the night before?

The backpack waiting by the door.
Tiny clothes laid out for the morning.
One last bedtime story before everything changes.

I’m opening 5 documentary-style sessions to capture the quiet moments before your little one starts kindergarten.

We’ll spend 30–45 minutes in your home documenting the excitement, the anticipation, and all the little moments you’ll wish you could remember years from now.

📚 Packing their backpack
👕 Picking out tomorrow’s outfit
🧸 Reading bedtime stories
🪥 Brushing teeth
đź’› One last snuggle before lights out

• $25 deposit to book, $50 due day of session
• 30–45 minute in-home session
• 20+ hand-edited images
• Online gallery with download access

These aren’t posed.
They’re the memories that often get forgotten.

✨ Only 5 sessions available.

If your little one is starting kindergarten (or Pre-K) this year and you’d love to preserve the night before this big milestone, send me a message to reserve your evening. 🍎

As long as I’ve wanted to do photography, I’ve dreamed of sessions like today’s.

It started with my Working Women’s Wednesday series, where I had the privilege of telling Katie’s story as a doula. But in telling hers, I found Taylor’s too.

This was Taylor’s second birth with Katie by her side—a relationship built on trust, strength, and unwavering support. Taylor’s most recent birth brought her baby into the world unmedicated in the front seat of a truck, and if that doesn’t speak to her resilience, I don’t know what does.

But this morning wasn’t about the birth itself.

It was about everything that came after. The sleepy toddler wandering into Mom’s arms. A three-week-old curled against her chest. The quiet rhythm of a home adjusting to life as a family of four.

These are the moments I hope they’re able to return to years from now—not because they’re perfect, but because they’re real.

What an honor it is to tell stories that begin long before I ever pick up my camera.
Taylor Bracey Brock,
Thank you for inviting me into your beautiful home and letting me capture you with your sweet girls.
One day I hope you look back on these photos & long to be back in this season 🤍

WORKING WOMEN’S WEDNESDAY | The Shoals Doula - Katie Terry 🤍

Some people walk into a birth as strangers.

Katie walks back into rooms where she’s already become part of the family’s story.

The little girl in these photos? Katie supported her parents through that pregnancy, too. Now she’s preparing to help welcome her little sibling.

Watching them together made it easy to understand why families choose her again.

Katie isn’t there to deliver babies.

She’s there to help families feel informed, supported, and confident before labor ever begins. Whether she’s demonstrating positions to encourage baby’s positioning, teaching comfort techniques, answering the questions that come up between appointments, or helping parents understand their options, her role is rooted in education, advocacy, and unwavering support.

What struck me most wasn’t just how knowledgeable she was… it was how present she was.

She listened.
She explained.
She laughed.
She encouraged.

And she made space for a curious toddler to be part of the experience, too.

Working Women’s Wednesday is about highlighting women whose work leaves a lasting impact, and after spending an evening with Katie… it’s easy to see why families trust her with some of the most vulnerable and meaningful moments of their lives.

Because sometimes the greatest gift you can give an expecting family isn’t an answer.

It’s having someone beside them who knows the questions to ask, believes in their voice, and reminds them they don’t have to walk into birth alone.🤍

A little idea that’s been on my heart 🤭🤍

I’m looking for two mothers to photograph for a personal project that celebrates the quiet, ordinary moments of motherhood.

🌿 One expecting mama (around 30+ weeks)
We’ll meet at sunrise by the river, letting the morning unfold naturally as we document this season before your little one arrives.

🏡 One family with a newborn (0–8 weeks)
I’d love to spend a quiet morning in your home during your baby’s first wake window—feeding, rocking, snuggling, making coffee, soaking in the slow moments that often go undocumented.

No elaborate posing.
No pressure to have a spotless home.
No expectations for perfection.

Just your family exactly as you are.

These sessions will be complimentary in exchange for permission to use the images in my portfolio and on social media.

If this sounds like your season of life, I’d love to hear from you. Direct message me a little about your family and why this session speaks to you. 🤍

I don’t think parents realize how much changes in just a few months until they have the photos sitting next to each other.

One day they’re a tiny newborn, and the next they’re sitting up, grinning, and trying to eat the flowers. 🌸

One of my favorite parts of photography has become meeting women…

Every single one has a different story.
Different passions.
Different responsibilities.
Different hats they wear.

And the coolest part?
They usually think they’re just living an ordinary Tuesday.

Meanwhile, I’m standing there thinking, “Do you realize how incredible this is?!”

And I get a front-row seat to moments that most people never see—the work, the heart, the quiet impact. Every session reminds me that there are amazing women all around us doing meaningful things, even if they don’t always see it themselves.

I feel really lucky that my camera gets to tell those stories.

If you have let me tell your story in anyway, thank you.
From the bottom of my heart ❤️

Working Women’s Wednesday is back. 🤍

After taking a little time to get settled back home in the Shoals, I’m so excited to pick this series back up and I couldn’t think of a better woman to start with than Jessie.

Jessie is the heart behind Shoals Educational Enrichment Resources (SEER), a small business serving homeschooling families throughout the Shoals. SEER offers classes, summer camps, support groups, and a retail store filled with educational resources… all designed to support children and the families who are guiding their learning.

Spending the morning photographing her, one thing became incredibly clear: this isn’t just something she does—it’s who she is.

With a degree in biology and a genuine love for teaching, Jessie has created an environment where curiosity is celebrated. Every lesson is intentional, every activity is hands on, and every child is encouraged to ask questions, explore, and discover at their own pace.

What stood out to me most wasn’t just everything SEER offers — it was the heart behind it all. Watching Jessie interact with these kids, you can tell she truly sees them. She meets them with patience, excitement, and encouragement, creating a place where children feel safe to learn and confident to be themselves.

Thank you, Jessie, for letting me tell a small part of your story. The Shoals is better because of women like you.

Here’s to bringing Working Women’s Wednesday back… one incredible woman at a time. 🤍

Happy Fourth of July! 🇺🇸

While everyone celebrates in their own way today, I’m grateful for the privilege of preserving the people we love most. Here’s a little peek at a beautiful family session that reminds me home isn’t a place—it’s the people beside you.

Wishing everyone a safe and joyful Independence Day. ❤️🤍💙
