Let’s celebrate Dr. Tracy Myers on earning her Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership from California State University, Stanislaus this spring 🎓
What inspired Dr. Myers to pursue her doctorate? Working alongside students every day. Through supporting students as they navigated barriers and uncertainty, she wanted to better understand how institutions can create systems that genuinely support student success — especially for first-generation students and those who may feel overlooked in higher education.
For Dr. Myers, earning her doctorate represents growth, resilience, and “proving to myself that persistence matters more than perfection.” She reflected on the long nights, deadlines and moments of self-doubt that came with the journey while staying connected to the deeper purpose behind her work.
One of the biggest lessons she hopes future students take away is that no one needs to have everything figured out before they begin. She encourages students to ask for help, build relationships and give themselves permission to not be perfect, reminding others that “the people who succeed are often the ones who keep showing up.”
Her perspective on student success centers on students feeling like they matter — not simply as GPAs or data points, but as people with strengths, challenges and potential. She recognizes that success can look different for everyone, whether it is graduating, asking for help or simply believing that you belong in college.
Looking ahead, Dr. Myers hopes the next generation of scholars remembers that there is no single path to making an impact in higher education. She encourages students to embrace their lived experiences and perspectives, noting that the people who challenge systems and care deeply about others are often exactly who higher education needs most.
Thank you to her leadership, authenticity and continued dedication to supporting students and strengthening higher education at Stan State and beyond! 💛❤️
